New Treasury Featuring my ACEO "Zinnia moving Inward"

Sharon from Manamon treated me with a lovely treasury, called "On the Fringe" this morning.
It'll be up till Tuesday morning, so if you get a chance, stop by to see the other artists beautiful work.
 http://www.etsy.com/treasury_list.php?room_id=101451

Sharon creates the most wonderful jewelry in her Etsy shop  These are some of my favorites from her selections offered:

Suleka is a lovely keychain featuring dangly charms including whimsical brass flowers with a section of stacked Czech glass beads, Swarovski crystals and plated pewter beads in silver and gold all adding to it's ethereal charm.  Beautiful!

"Vintage Nouveau" features a lovely painted Abalone shell pendant in a vintage floral pattern with an antiqued brass vintage stamping of a woman sitting in a half moon.  The ends feature ornate antiqued brass caps and a handmade antiqued Bronze chain made from spooled wire.

And last, but not least, "Submerged" features Czech glass in deep turquoise and patina sand dollar connectors with antiqued bronze, all handmade from spooled wire.  I love how whimsical these earrings are!

Weekly Challenge at Inspiration Avenue- Hidden

So with the crazies involved in having a holiday party plus trying to get a commission done on time, I really didn't think I'd be able to submit anything this week!  BUT, as luck would have it, my ten year old son has developed an aversion to having his picture taken, and VOILA!!  I now have some pictures representing the word "hidden".  They are not *great* pictures by any means or anything approaching "art" but they do illustrate the word.....

New Treasury Featuring my original tulip painting, "Moonlight Sonata"

Angie of Art Angel (one of my favorite Etsy shops!) was sweet enough to include me and some of my Inspiration Avenue friends in her new treasury.  It's up till Monday morning, so take a look if you get a chance.
In the meantime, here is some of Artangel's fabulous work!

This is an example of a custom order piece Angie has available.  The canvas is painted with acrylic paints, and each heart is each individually cut by hand from various collaged papers- often from her old artwork and sketch book pages.  I LOVE this piece, for more information, click HERE.

This is "Little Bird", one of Angie's original paintings, I really enjoy the way the patterns run through the entire composition; lovely!

I really like the title of this one, "Ebb and Flow" here's a bit from the listing description: "An original, contemporary mixed media painting on canvas. This is an abstract painting inspired by the ebb and flow of the tides, and the natural forms of the pebbles and stones washed up by the sea."

Don't Forget! My giveaway ends in two days!

Here's a friendly reminder that my current giveaway ends on the 21st, the day after tomorrow!

Weekly Challenge at Inspiration Avenue-Imagine

For my weekly submission at Inspiration Avenue, I finally got smart and something separate from my usual paintings that just take too long right now with everything else going on in the holiday season.
I've been wanting to start a series based on the antique mannikin I have, that I think is SO neat, so, here's my first piece of my new series:

"The Flying Lesson"
The background of clouds and birds is painted with acrylics; then, I painted the mannikin on some recycled book pages and collaged her in.
Hope you like it!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas..............

I've been in a decorating frenzy for the last week and everything except hanging the outside lights is DONE, with the exception of my constant tweaking and adjusting!
I couldn't resist posting some photos as I've been really enjoying looking at my friend's blogs with all their wonderful Christmas submissions.....
SO, HERE WE GO!

The apothecary chest was one of my roadside finds, and is now one of my favorite things!  I *do* have to constantly remove chipping paint from the sideboard, but it's totally worth it!

Decoration atop the apothecary chest....

I adore Santas~ My Mom got this one for my Christmas present a few years ago, and he always has a place of honor in my decorations!

Some close ups from my tree......

This is a section from my mantel which my Mom and I decorated with a beautiful log and greenery, and then accented with bits and pieces like these antlers holding a bird's nest and the stone lion's foot borrowed from my garden.....click on the pic for details

The other end of my mantel adorned with my son's favorite thing~ his stocking holder Christmas countdown!

This is probably my favorite this year ~the mannikin is always present in our house, part of whatever seasonal decorating I have going on.  And I LOVE how it looks in the candle-light!

OK, that's enough for now, even tho I could add so much more!  I'll do another posting of the outside lights for those of you who like "tacky ole' lights" just because I love them so much......
Cheers!

New acrylic painting- Apricot Beauty!

I just finished my new painting featuring an Apricot parrot tulip.  I started it for last week's challenge at Inspiration Avenue but alas, did not finish in time.....I don't know- it's either the holidays or maybe I'm getting older, 'cause I just haven't been able to get things done on time lately!  There's always something pressing, and before I know it, I've gotten a little of everything done, but nothing to the point where I can cross it off my list!
Anyway, here's my painting- it took me awhile, but I *am* quite happy with it!

Cheers!

Weekly Challenge at Inspiration Avenue- Peaches & Cream

Good morning all,
This week's challenge at Inspiration Avenue was "Peaches and Cream" so, for my submission, I started a new painting of a glorious french parrot tulip which, alas, isn't quite complete.  I'd planned to finish it this morning before the deadline, but had forgotten that we would have a house full of 14 year old ladies celebating Emmie's birthday.............
SO

I very luckily happen to have a lovely feline who also fits the bill; Peri.  BTW, I did NOT pose him for this, HE chose what book to make a bed from!

For anyone who's curious for a peek at my new WIP, here it is.  Not sure I like the black background, and I haven't decided whether to keep it or change it.  *Sigh*, backgrounds give me more trouble than anything.... Any opinions; black or something different?

A Little Christmas Magic for you.....

I LOVE Christmas, and have been perusing the offerings in Etsy for art that really invokes the *spirit* of Christmas and the feeling of magic that it inspires.
Hope you enjoy these selections!

Angie of Artangel has a lovely selection of affordable art including some wonderful wooden Christmas ornaments that remind me of Jan Brett's work.

Renie Britenbucher creates whimisical pieces chock full of humor, light-heartedness and charm. You can see more of her work HERE.

Elizabeth Graf has a wonderful collection of work inspired by life and nature and flavored with gorgeous color and a Caribbean feel.  Check out the rest of her work HERE.

Luthien of Pimp & Paint has a shop full of magical creations!  "Lor-Arda", my favorite,  is made essentially in silver and white color scheme to give it a sense of frost, of elves, of light, of purity and of everything magical!

Tammy of Designs4U, has a beautiful selection in her shop ranging from jewelry and altered works including some lovely art journals to this fun little sparkly snowman.  I just love her work!

Robin Maria Pedrero creates glorious paintings full of color and movement.  She has also done a series of holiday paintings like this beautiful partridge in his pear tree.  To see more of her work, click HERE.

Felicia Kramer is one of my favorite people on Etsy.  And not only is her shop fabulous to bgin with, she has an enormous collection of Christmas goodies.  These vintage style ACEOs are only one example of all she has to offer.  To see more of her work, click HERE.

Anitra of Anitra's Cute Art World has an incredible collection of art miniatures mostly in the format of ACEO cards.  The detail and charm of her work are wonderful to behold.

So, here ends my foray into some of the offerings of Christmas magic available at Etsy.  Hope you enjoyed looking at my selectons!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
